Tug: MV Songhee In Howe Sound

Released 2018

The MV Songhee has been an iconic part of the west coast for over 70 years. Built in 1944 in California this 100 foot ship was a U.S. Navy mine-sweeper during the war and saw active service in Pearl Harbour and Japan. After the war she entered B.C. waters and was originally known as "the Haro”, named after Haro Strait near Victoria. She did years of work as a deep sea mothership tug between Vancouver and Alaska. She was purchased in 2013 by Daniel and Bouchra Savard who now operate her as a B&B and International Restaurant in Port Alberni’s Harbour Quay where she can accommodate 15 overnight guests and gives visitors a glimpse into her heroic past.

Complimentary shipping is available on all original and giclée reproduction artworks to the majority of Canadian and U.S. mainland addresses. A gallery representative will confirm with you if your order is eligible.
