Rain Clouds Over Lake O'Hara

After hearing about Lake O’Hara in Yoho National Park for years and the impact it had on the Group of Seven, I finally got into the area in August 2012.
It was indeed an inspirational setting with gorgeous lakes surrounded by the Rockies. Despite a violent stormy few days I was able to paint under a tarpaulin. This painting was done from memory so it will not be an exact replica but captures the feeling of the day the storm was breaking up. I enjoyed the various ways that water can be painted in this piece... distant reflections, close-up reflections, a moving stream and in the foreground transparent water.
