Red-Legged Frog On A Rotten Log

Although I paint animals, I don’t often paint them as close-up portraits, but this large female red legged frog was too good a subject to ignore. The rich red of the rotting log and the brilliant green of the mosses were perfect colour compliments while the touch of shiny reflected light on the frog and leaves was important in making the image appear moist.
