Pender Prince

This painting represents the typical coastal homesteads found among B.C.’s Gulf Islands or the US San Juan Islands. It was initiated, with considerable artistic license, by Hope Bay on North Pender Island between Vancouver and Vancouver Island. Many of these original buildings, being made of wood, are being replaced as they decay with modern waterfront mansions, but it is these older docks and homes that have the character that inspires them to be painted.
