Steve's Crab Dock

In the 90s Steve Rae-Arthur, a resident of Tofino and great grandson of the famous Cougar Annie, moored his fish boat on this floating dock in Tofino’s harbour. He fished for crabs and the spare traps were stored on the partially submerged deck. In the evening light I was attracted to the shadows caste on the side of the shed by the boat and the traps. As is often the case, once a structure has acquired character and is exciting to paint, it becomes an insurance liability and is torn down, as was the story in this case.

View the images below for matted and framed versions.
