Wolves: Keeping Watch Over Mudflats

Vancouver Island is home to a transient population of wolves that is a separate subspecies from their mainland timber wolf cousins. Although often hard to see due to the dense undergrowth, they frequently patrol the estuaries, beaches and mudflats scavenging on a wide variety of food items to survive. On several occasions over the years I have spotted them near my floathouse studio and I am always in awe of their sleek appearance and ability to melt back into the forest with barely a trace.

This image is also available as a limited edition giclée print.
