I was canoeing in Nanaimo harbour when this scene on the industrial waterfront caught my eye. The blue building was perfectly offset by the brilliant orange and pink floats on the boat’s stern. I took photos and did not feel the composition needed any adjustments. The Jolly Roger is still long-lining on the west coast but the Nanaimo Shipyard is now closed.
