Amphitrite Lighthouse: January Sunset

from CA$85.00

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Year: 2019

Medium: Paper Print Laminated on Board

Original Painting Medium: Acrylic on Canvas

Original Painting Size (Inches H x W): 32 × 64

The southernmost tip of the Ucluelet peninsula is marked by one of B.C.’s most iconic lighthouses. The red of the lighthouse adds a touch of colour and a human element to this scene. The lighthouse, although not in use these days, receives the full brunt of winter storms as successive fronts stream across the north Pacific. At sunset there is sometimes a break in the clouds just before the sun goes over the horizon providing a touch of drama as the rich orange glow catches the tips of the waves. The presence of sea foam is also a common sight when the waters are whipped as if by an egg beater. This work came together surprisingly smoothly. It was painted in January between storms while the winds were rattling around my studio and images of huge waves were fresh in my mind.

What is a Block Mount Print?

A block mount reproduction print is a digital image printed onto premium photo paper then mounted to a 3/8” MDF board with a UV lamination applied. It is finished with black beveled edges and the rear has a pre-cut hanger slot for easy hanging. This is a great product for anyone who likes the aesthetic of a matte finish and wants a durable, easy to clean, easy to hang piece of art.
