The moss-covered forests of the outer coast are a subject I return to paint again and again. I find the twisted shapes of rotting root systems covered in ferns provide endless compositional challenges. The rare glimpse of morning light adds a contrast of colour to the somber greens of the forest floor. There are few birds that make these dense forests their home but the tiny Pacific Wren is the exception. Its lyrical, trickling song is astonishingly loud for such a small creature. I chose to place it at the painting's focal point.

What is a Block Mount Print?
A block mount reproduction print is a digital image printed onto premium photo paper then mounted to a 3/8” MDF board with a UV lamination applied. It is finished with black beveled edges and the rear has a pre-cut hanger slot for easy hanging. This is a great product for anyone who likes the aesthetic of a matte finish and wants a durable, easy to clean, easy to hang piece of art.
