The title refers to the large spruce stump that for twenty years was a major fixture of the beach at Schooner Cove, at the north end of Pacific Rim National Park. Every few years a particularly violent winter storm would cause it to shift position slightly until finally in 2009 it was broken into pieces and has now disappeared. It provided the foreground for several of my paintings of the area.

A Giclée (pronounced Gee-Clay) is a digitally reproduced limited edition print which looks very close to an original painting. All of Mark's giclees are printed on canvas which help to give them that ‘real painting’ feel plus do not require glass when framed.
The original painting is scanned which enables the best quality of reproduction as colours are accurate to the original and can even show the detail of brush strokes. It is a much more colour accurate reproduction than those from traditional 4-colour presses, and the inks are long lasting as well as resistant to light deterioration.
Mark's giclée reproductions are limited to editions of 50, thus making the giclee a good investment if the original is unavailable or out of reach financially. Mark personally numbers and resigns each reproduction.
