South Beach in Pacific Rim National Park is one of the most accessible places to see powerful ocean waves. Facing the open Pacific it receives the full impact of seas that were sometimes generated hundreds of miles beyond the horizon. With its twisted spruce and mist-saturated atmosphere I always feel a rush of excitement as I round the corner to this view.
